Archeology
Chesterfield is a place with a long history and lots of good "finds" abound! However much fun it is to dig up some trace of the past, it it the responsibility of the digger to think about what he's taking out of the ground.
Is it of value to the community? Is it historically noteworthy? Is it potentially dangerous? Should it be reported to the Chesterfield Historical Society, the Virginia Historical Society, or the Department of Historic
Resources? Maybe it should be left alone.
Students at our annual archeology camp, "Diggin' into History," learn that they must do the classwork before they do the digging.
We're looking for a new site. Do you know of a historic location that is endangered?
Please contact the Historical Society office at 777-9663.
